Academic writing and publishing are not easy. But you likely already know this from experience.
Support from someone who has "been there" can be a game-changer.
We get it, you have high standards (good!), you are doing interesting research (love it!), contending with the pressures of publishing (you got this!), all while managing other responsibilities.
Building Bridges Academic Coaching is here to support you.

How long is your to-do list?
Let us guess,
you don't want to think about it.

We get it*!
* "It" = overwhelmed with stress, trying to ignore the nagging voice in your head saying "you should be writing," and possibly realizing you're ill-equipped to prepare a manuscript for publication (you aren't alone in that realization), while attempting to maintain your "other life" (activities outside of work such as family, hobbies, volunteering), etc.
Let us lighten your load.

Here is who we work with...
Overwhelmed faculty who are struggling to get their research published so that they can focus on other things like teaching, mentoring, department meetings, their own career development...
...the list goes on.
Overworked postdocs who are struggling with the writing process and getting manuscripts prepped for publication so that they can focus on other things like grant writing, conference abstracts, contributing to your lab...
...the list goes on.

Busy graduate students who are struggling to get their dissertations edited, proofread, and formatted for submission so that they can focus on other things like teaching classes, interviewing graduate school candidates, reviewing manuscripts…
...the list goes on.

And we know what you're up against*.
Funding challenges
Teaching commitments
Family responsibilities
AI (where to begin!)
*If only this were a complete list, right?

Hi, I'm Carrie - I help faculty, postdocs and graduate students with the writing and publication process.
My background is in deaf education and early intervention. After a 10-year career as a teacher and consultant, I pursued a PhD in Special Education from The Ohio State University. After completing my doctorate, I trained as a postdoc, dividing my time between the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at OSU and Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery in the College of Medicine at the Wexner Medical Center.
My Master's and Educational Specialist degrees are from Gallaudet University and my Bachelor's is from Bowling Green State University.
You can find my research and other articles published in a range of journals and for a variety of audiences. Learn about my research at ResearchGate.net and LinkedIn.
Some of the things I enjoy besides writing are cooking, traveling, spending time with my husband and two teenagers laughing at the funny things our two cats and two dogs do, and taking in live music with friends.
